What is a Community Foundation?

A Community Foundation is an independent, community-owned philanthropic organisation that operates in a specific region. It works with a range of donors … and makes grants to local organisations and initiatives, and it brings people together to build social capital and strengthen their communities by undertaking community leadership and partnership activities to address a wide variety of needs in its service area. In a nutshell:  local people giving time, skills and money for community benefit.

Some Support From Our Community

Rayleen Brown

Chair at the First Nations Bushfood and Botanicals Alliance Australia

As someone deeply invested in the well-being invested in the well-being of our community, I wholeheartedly support the Mparntwe Alice Springs Community Foundation. Our vision is centred around encouraging, supporting, and amplifying.

I believe in the power of bringing together the diverse tapestry of our town Aboriginal, long-time residents and newcomers alike – to collaborate and strengthen the fabric of our community. By working together, we can enhance the bonds that unite us and collectively strive to make our town a better place for everyone.

I am inspired by the progress and eager to see what more we can achieve together. I urge others to join me in supporting the Foundation and contributing to the positive transformation of our beloved Mparntwe Alice Springs.

I am proud to support the Mparntwe Alice Springs Community Foundation because of its transformative impact on our community. This foundation is more than just a charity; it’s a catalyst for long-term positive change. One of the key reasons I support this foundation is its unwavering commitment to addressing the unique needs and challenges of Alice Springs.

The foundation is a game-changer because it fosters a sense of unity and collaboration. By bringing together diverse groups, the foundation creates a powerful network of support. This collaborative spirit not only amplifies the impact of each project but also strengthens the fabric of our community.

In the long run, the work of the foundation will lead to a more resilient, vibrant, and inclusive Alice Springs. It is an investment in our collective future, one that promises to uplift every member of our community. This foundation is a beacon of hope, demonstrating that when we come together with a shared vision, we can achieve remarkable things. I encourage others to join me in contributing to this incredible foundation. Together, we can make a lasting difference and ensure a brighter future for Alice Springs.

I’d like to give a shout out to the Mparntwe Alice Springs Community Foundation for their work in activating our local newspaper, it’s more than a paper with stories. It’s a place to read local stories and shine a line on local people creating positive change in Alice Springs and Central Australia.

The Foundation acknowledges the Arrernte people as the traditional owners and custodians of Mparntwe and the surrounding country, on whose lands we live and work. We pay our respects to their elders past and present and celebrate the important work of their current and emerging leaders.
